So what is it that so angers me about Health Care Reform (HCR)? Short list answer:
- HCR has nothing to do with health care; the name is a politico cover for nationalizing health insurance.
- And, yes, I know the law never uses the terms 'public option' or 'nationalization'. But as me own dear Gram used to say, a skunk under a rose bush still stinks like a skunk. T'ain't what the law calls itself that matters; it's what it does.
- HCR does nothing to address the reasons health care delivery costs keep rising in this country.
- HCR does nothing whatsoever to address the core problems underlying health care systems in this country
- HCR does nothing whatsoever to control the obscene costs of medicines in this country, or control the pharmaceutical industry's pricing policies
- HCR mandates a whole new menu of 'essential services' that insurance companies are to deliver for 'free', yet fails utterly to consider the financial ramifications of those mandates for either the insurance industry (not to mention insurance brokers!) or the poor, honest, middle-class folk who have to pay the resulting skyrocketing premiums.
